On January of 2017, Penny (Partner and muse) left our home in Southwest Virginia, and embarked on a solo adventure to the "Woman's March on Washington."
This song was written as a celebration of her, and to all those who still believe in our great experiment in democracy.
"Don't say your piece softly, if you want them to hear, 'cause you are thunder, let them know that you're near..."
Since that time, she certainly hasn't: "Said her Piece Softly."
lyrics
Don't Say Your Piece Softly:
At first there's near silence,
Dreams need room to breathe,
Freedom and promise, to satisfy me,
We cascade on forward,
Through the learning and pain,
We're gonna be heroes, there's so much to gain,
There's really no nightmares,
You want us to believe,
So go on home now, there's nothing to see,
There's prisons in the forest,
And those in your mind,
They'll nullify your freedom, and take up your time,
Don't say your piece softly,
If you want them to hear,
'Cause you are the thunder, let them no that you're near,
So turn down your free thought,
And turn up your pain,
Just remember all flowers are preceded by rain,
We're lost in a nightmare,
A hundred million can see,
Don't let go of the promise,
You're gonna be free,
